What is PATA?

PATA stands for Pacific Asia Travel Association. Founded in 1951, PATA is a not-for profit association that has been the leading voice and authority on travel and tourism in the Asia Pacific region. The Association is internationally acclaimed for acting as a catalyst for the responsible development of travel and tourism to, from and within the Asia Pacific region. PATA provides aligned advocacy, insightful research and innovative events to its member organisations.

 

Where is PATA based?

PATA Headquarters is based at Siam Tower, Bangkok, Thailand. PATA also has offices in China and Sydney, and representatives in Dubai and London.

How can I make a payment and what are the terms of payment?

Payment can be made through Cash or Wire Transfer, Cheque, Credit Card* (Visa, MasterCard, & AMEX) in USD Currency only. Payment must be made within 30 days of receiving an invoice.

*Visa is the preferred payment method of PATA

 

Who are our Members?

The PATA region covers 17 time zones from Turkey to Chile – with over 800 members worldwide. Our members include 88 government, state and city tourism bodies, 22 international airlines, airports and cruise lines, 62 educational institutions, and hundreds of travel industry companies in Asia Pacific and beyond.

 

What are the membership categories?

What is the membership cycle?

Your membership will begin on either the 1st or 16th of the month, depending on when your membership application is approved. Your membership is valid for a period of twelve months (12) from the start date of your membership.

 

What is PATAmPOWER?

PATAmPOWER is your one stop for data about the Asia Pacific visitor economy, improving productivity, providing faster insights and enabling smarter decisions. Through long-term partnerships with the national tourist offices, national statistical agencies, strategic partners and leading tourism research consultancies, PATA has access to the latest comprehensive and insightful tourism data and makes such data available for members to access via our interactive tool. PATAmPOWER provides intelligently aggregated travel data on Visitors, Expenditure, Accommodation, Aviation, Digital Indicators, Sustainability & CSR, and Forecasts.

 

What are PATA’s main events?

PATA’s yearly events include the PATA Adventure Travel and Responsible Tourism Conference and Mart, PATA Annual Summit, and PATA Travel Mart. The Association also organises PATAcademy-HCD twice a year in June and December at the PATA Engagement Hub in Bangkok, Thailand.

In addition, PATA also organises the Hub City Forum Series, which brings together key travel and tourism industry stakeholders, thought-leaders, government leaders and media representatives to examine critical issues facing the industry within the country.  These forums are developed and co-hosted by PATA headquarters and a respective PATA Chapter, with the aim to leverage off the local chapter knowledge.

What is the PATA Travel Mart (PTM) and how can I join?

PATA Travel Mart (PTM) is a PATA signature event and Asia Pacific’s premier travel trade show, featuring unparalleled networking and contracting opportunities to help your organization access decision makers, meet new clients, expand your network and build or maintain existing relationships.

What is a PATA Endorsed Event and how can I apply?

PATA Endorsed Events are events that PATA helps promote to our members though various PATA channels. As a PATA Endorsed Event, you can feature the PATA logo on your website to help build your brand. Events must be Travel and Tourism related and the event organiser must be a PATA member. All applications for endorsements will be reviewed carefully. What is a PATA Led Event and how can I get involved?

PATA Led Events are events in which PATA is involved in the organization of the event, including registration management, logistics assistance, programme or speaker management. Event organisers must be PATA members, and are required to send PATA a proposal for support, outlining the specific requirements for their event. PATA Led Events are promoted on the PATA website, in marketing materials and social media networks.

 

What is a PATA Chapter, and what is the difference between PATA International membership and Chapter membership?

PATA Chapters are established throughout the world to assist in the fulfillment of the objectives of the Association at a grass roots level. They are local community organisations of travel industry professionals who join in a co-operative endeavor within the framework of PATA to develop travel and tourism to, from and within the Asia Pacific area. Currently, there are 43 PATA Chapters around the world assisting local travel industry communities.

A PATA Chapter member receives Chapter-level discounts on events, research and publications.

 

What is a PATA Student Chapter?

PATA Student Chapters are established around the world and consist of groups of students from PATA member universities, members of PATA International or Young Tourism Professional members. The aim of the student chapters are to fulfil PATA objectives on behalf of the NextGen or Youth members. Student Chapter members are often studying in the area of travel, tourism and hospitality and are passionate about the industry.

Currently, there are 12 PATA Student Chapters around the world assisting local university’s Hospitality and Tourism students.
