Mike Valerio is an eight-time Emmy Award-winning CNN International Correspondent based in Beijing, where he covers China and the wider Asia-Pacific region. His reporting spans artificial intelligence and robotics, technology and innovation, major political developments, and cultural trends shaping Chinese society. Before moving to Beijing, he was based in Seoul, reporting on South Korea’s global cultural influence and developments on the Korean Peninsula. Valerio previously worked in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from The George Washington University, is fluent in French, and is studying Mandarin.
