Dr. Naushad Mohamed holds a PhD relating to destination marketing and Islamic Tourism from Heriot-Watt University, Scotland (UK). He has recently published a paper in top-tier journal International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management titled “Stimulating satisfaction and loyalty: transformative behaviour and Muslim consumers”. He has presented in international academic conferences as well as local industry events as guest speakers and an academic related to economic development in local island community through tourism and more specifically on Islamic Tourism in Maldives. Prior to the current post he was mainly in academia as a lecturer in Marketing in Maldives National University, Heriot-Watt University (UK) as well as private higher education institutions in Maldives. He is the President of Clique College a higher education institution in Maldives (20 years).

Currently he has been appointed as Deputy Minister of Tourism 10th December 2018. In his current post he is mainly involved in discussion of tourism policy developments with government agencies and industry stakeholders related to development of tourism models that are inclusive and sustainable for small island states such as the Maldives.
