The Guilin Forum has been successfully held for 12 years to provide a valuable platform for tourism professionals – from policymakers to senior officials, researchers to industry representatives – to take stock of global and regional trends and to better understand their potential impacts on tourism development.
With the mission to further promote tourism as a driver of economic growth, inclusive development and environmental sustainability, the Forum is organised by the People’s Government of Guilin of China, the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) in collaboration with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Guilin, China.
This year’s forum – under the theme “Beyond gateways: Dispersal policies, capacity management, and rural tourism” – will deliver on the following objectives:
- Analyse current and future trends of world tourism and their implications for visitor dispersal policies, capacity management, and rural destination development
- Share good practices in policy planning and development in relation to new products, capacity management, infrastructure and marketing, aimed at encouraging visitor dispersal
- Set recommendations for effective tourism dispersal policies
Join us in mapping the landscape of the future of tourism.
