Elsie Zhang - Events Intern

Hi! This is Elsie from China. As a girl who loves adventures and our Mother Nature so much, I can’t wait to backpack again in the near future. My previous study and work experience in Macao developed and enhanced my interest and ambitions in the tourism and events industry. It is my honor to join as an intern in the PATA events team.

My major duty is supporting the team to update exhibitors’ profiles online and assisting with online webinars. Due to COVID-19, it is such a pity that I cannot join the team in Bangkok physically; however, I do appreciate the opportunity to work with our lovely team online!

Jihye Shin - Marketing Intern

Hi everybody! My name is Jihye (pronounced Jee-Hay) from Korea (ROK). I consider myself as a third-culture kid as I spent most of my childhood in different parts of the world, including China (Beijing, Shanghai), Guam, Las Vegas, and Chinese Taipei. As for my bucket list, I am currently 65% there in visiting all parts of Korea (ROK) as a solo traveler and hope to do the same in Japan once the pandemic situation alleviates. I am currently in my fourth year of studying hotel management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and look forward to seeing where this journey takes me!

I decided to join PATA as a marketing intern in the hopes of nurturing and developing my creative thoughts in such an influential organization. Although all work is done remotely at the moment due to the ongoing pandemic, I have met so many inspiring and talented group of people that incessantly motivates me to strive in the tourism field. Through this special opportunity, I look forward to learning more about the behind-the-scenes at PATA and enhancing my understanding of the tourism sector from different perspectives!

Joy Huang - Membership Intern

Hi! This is Joy from China. I am majoring in Cultural and Heritage Management in the Institution for Tourism Studies of Macao, and currently assisting the PATA Membership Department.

For me, it’s a challenge to work in a totally new area, but challenges usually come with opportunities! With an obsession for traveling and getting to know cultural heritage, I’ve been to many destinations and would love to discover different regions and cultures. I believe my previous traveling experiences combined with working experiences in PATA could better help to build and strengthen my understanding of the tourism industry. More than blessed to join PATA!

Sidney Kim - Communications Intern

Hi all! I am Sidney from Korea (ROK) but grew up in Russia, Mongolia, and Poland during my childhood. Because of my international background, I love traveling and meeting new people. But growing up as a third-culture kid, I sometimes find it hard to identify myself with one particular cultural background. However, that became my strength as I started working with many people from diverse backgrounds. And here I am, at PATA, getting to know more people and loving it.

Being a communications intern at PATA, I learn to acquire professional skills to assist the team in various ways and gain deeper insights into how the traveling industry is developing, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Writing and communicating have been my passion for a long time, but I am convinced that this opportunity at PATA will enhance my skills even further. I am looking forward to working with the amazing PATA team and discovering more exciting events and learning opportunities!

Stay healthy and safe before we travel again! Cheers!

Yusril Haqqi - Youth Intern

Hi, it's me Yusril! I live on the beautiful island of Lombok, Indonesia, and am a Travel Arrangement Student at Lombok Tourism Polytechnic who loves learning about different cultures and adventure tourism. I am very much travel-addicted and hope to become a tour guide for my beautiful Island someday. Every weekend, I go find a new place just to chill and relax. Strolling around with my motorbike to find coffee shops, pristine beaches, and rice paddies for Instagram is my ultimate happiness (What a true island lifestyle it is!). Besides, I love joining events and organizations to discuss millennials’ empowerment and tourism issues.

Being a PATA intern is a privilege for me. Through this internship, I have gained the opportunity to make friends from other destinations and became more familiar with working with technology as well. I have also gained new insight into the methods of communication and work culture in a remote-working environment!
