The 19th UN Tourism/PATA Forum on Tourism Trends and Outlook

As a vital driver of economic growth, cultural exchange, and sustainable development, tourism plays a central role in the prosperity of Asia and the Pacific. In a period of rapid transformation, the urgency to revitalise the sector and define its future direction has never been more pressing. The Forum will serve as a dynamic platform for stakeholders to forge synergies, foster innovation, and develop strategies that will shape a resilient, sustainable, and smart tourism ecosystem.

The 2025 programme will address a wide range of critical topics aimed at steering the tourism industry towards long-term competitiveness and inclusivity. Key discussions will include analysing global and regional tourism trends in the post-pandemic era to uncover emerging opportunities and challenges, exploring the intersection of technology and culture to enhance visitor experiences while safeguarding heritage, and advancing tourism education to strengthen cross-cultural dialogue. The role of digital advancements in fostering global understanding and promoting smart, sustainable practices will be a central focus. Through these in-depth conversations, the Forum aims to guide the Asia-Pacific tourism sector towards a future defined by collaboration, innovation, and cultural enrichment.

In line with this vision, the 2025 UN Tourism/PATA Forum on Tourism Trends and Outlook will address the theme “Synergy in Motion: Charting New Frontiers for a Resilient, Sustainable, and Smart Tourism Ecosystem.”

Serving as a knowledge-sharing platform for National Tourism Administrations, National Tourism Organizations, Destination Management Organizations, government officials, NGOs, industry practitioners, and academics, this year’s Forum will deliver on the following objectives:

  • Catalyse international collaboration by identifying innovative approaches to travel and destination management.

  • Address regional challenges and opportunities, equipping stakeholders with strategies for growth and resilience.

  • Advance tourism education and cultural exchange, highlighting the role of digital tools in fostering global understanding.
