Hong Kong's Lan Kwai Fong Signs RMB 1 Billion Investment to Create Nightlife Landmark in Sanya's Haitang Bay
Landmark Hong Kong–Hainan cultural tourism project brings iconic international nightlife brand to China's premier coastal resort destination.
Sanya, China, 16 June 2026 - Sanya's Haitang Bay took a major step towards becoming a world-class nightlife hub on Monday, as the Haitang District Government and Hong Kong's Lan Kwai Fong Group signed a RMB 1 billion (approximately USD 140 million) investment agreement witnessed by the Governor of Hainan Province.
Under the deal, Sanya Haitang Bay Investment Holdings will partner with Lan Kwai Fong — one of Asia's most recognisable nightlife brands, established nearly five decades ago — to develop a premier nightlife and entertainment complex featuring high-end international bars, live music venues, flagship KTV establishments, and concept outlets developed with leading global IP brands. Its entry into Haitang Bay addresses a gap in Sanya's high-end night-time economy and is expected to accelerate the Bay's evolution from a premium resort destination into a fully-fledged international tourism consumption centre.
The signing forms part of a broader commercial build-out in Haitang Bay, joining an impressive pipeline that includes Taikoo Li (RMB 7 billion), MixC (RMB 15 billion), and Haitang Story (RMB 2.5 billion, Phase I operational). The same period also saw the groundbreaking of the Haitang Performing Arts Center and the land acquisition for the Azure Power Sports & Leisure Resort, bringing international-grade projects under simultaneous development to three.
The project is a flagship Hong Kong–Hainan cooperation initiative under the Free Trade Port framework. Both parties stated the partnership will draw on Lan Kwai Fong's international expertise and Haitang Bay's natural endowments to deliver a waterfront landmark that meets global standards while reflecting Hainan's distinctive character.
