David Barrett

With more than 35 years of experience living and working in Thailand’s business events and hospitality industries, David Barrett is a respected authority in the MICE sector. He currently serves as Consultant Events, heading up the Bangkok Sales Office for The Slate, the design- led luxury lifestyle hotel in North Phuket.

Over the course of his distinguished career, David has held senior roles with many of Thailand’s leading Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and international hotel chains, building a reputation for deep market insight and strong industry relationships. He has held the position of Board Member of the Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA) and chaired its Marketing Committee, helping shape strategies to promote Thailand globally as a premier business events destination.

David is the Founder and CEO of DBC & Partners, the production company behind the Trends interview series, which he hosts and through which he engages with influential leaders across travel, hospitality and business events. A former member of Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) and Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), and a member of the Institute of Place Management (IPM) at Manchester Metropolitan University, he has also spearheaded destination marketing campaigns across Bangkok’s Riverside, North Pattaya and, most recently, North Phuket.

British by birth but proudly Thai at heart, David has spent the majority of his life in Thailand and brings a uniquely local yet globally informed perspective to the industry he has helped shape for more than three decades.
