Hyun Chul Shin

Head of the Glocal Tourism Team, Jeju Tourism Organization

Mr. Hyun-chul Shin is the Head of the Glocal Tourism Team at the Jeju Tourism Organization of Jeju Special Self-governing Province, Republic of Korea. He has been involved in local government tourism policy development in the field of sustainable tourism in Jeju, including Community-based Tourism, Rural Tourism, through policy planning and participation in various committees. Among his recent major achievements are recognition under the UN tourism Best Tourism Villages initiatives and receiving PATA Gold Awards for the three consecutive years from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).

He earned a master’s degree in Tourism Management from Jeju National University, Republic of Korea, and is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at Jeju National University. His master’s research examined the impact of memorable tourism experiences on tourists’ behavioral intentions, with a focus on developing policies needed to foster the tourism industry of Jeju’s local government.
