Rachel Gray

British Wildlife Artist

Rachel Gray is a British artist who specialises in wildlife portraiture. She is known for her emotionally resonant depictions of wild animals, many of which are endangered. Her creative process begins in the field, from the rainforests of Malaysia to the deserts of Namibia, where she sketches, photographs and observes her subjects, wherever possible, in their natural habitats. These immersive encounters inform her studio practice, where she uses digital tools with traditional techniques to create portraits that go beyond realism, attempting to capture the individuality and inner life of each animal.

Rachel’s portraits have been exhibited internationally in collaboration with organisations such as WWF, the British High Commission, MATTA (Malaysian Association of Travel and Tourist agencies), Ministry of Tourism arts and Culture Malaysia and the Namibian High Commission. She has contributed to major global platforms including COP26, Expo 2020 Dubai, WTM London, ITB Berlin and has partnered with renowned institutions such as Royal Selangor and Malaysian Aviation Group to bring wildlife narratives to wider audiences. Through her work, Rachel invites viewers not only to admire the beauty of these animals but also to reflect on their fragility and the ecosystems they represent.
