Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony Between Taylor’s University and Trinidad Hospitality Sdn Bhd
Subang Jaya, Malaysia, 14th October 2025 – PATA Malaysia Taylor's Student Chapter (PATA MTSC) served on the supporting committee for the Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony between Taylor's University and Trinidad Hospitality Sdn Bhd, a ceremony held on 14th October 2025 at Taylor's University that formalised a collaboration to advance sustainable tourism development in Malaysia.
The signing ceremony was organised by Taylor's University's School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events through the Sustainable Tourism Impact Lab (STIL), with PATA MTSC providing operational support throughout the event. Held at Lecture Theatre 12, Taylor's University Lakeside Campus from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., the ceremony marked the start of a strategic partnership between Taylor's University and Trinidad Hospitality Sdn Bhd to support sustainable tourism development with Fraser's Hill as the initial focus, while opening pathways for community engagement, industry integrated learning, and high impact hospitality initiatives in Malaysia and beyond.
The ceremony opened with welcoming remarks and was followed by a series of promotional videos showcasing Pahang, Trinidad Hospitality, Taylor's University, and Lenggong. Professor Barry Winn, Vice Chancellor and President of Taylor's University, delivered the opening address, followed by remarks from Yang Hormat Dato' Sri Omar Naresh Mohan, President and Group CEO of Trinidad Hospitality, and Professor Dr. Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management at Taylor's University. The Memorandum of Understanding was then signed by Professor Barry Winn on behalf of Taylor's University and Yang Hormat Dato' Sri Omar Naresh Mohan on behalf of Trinidad Hospitality. The signing was witnessed by Professor Dr. Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan representing Taylor's University and Yang Berbahagia Dato' Zulkifli Mohamed, Group Director of Business Development at Trinidad Hospitality, representing Trinidad Hospitality. Also in attendance were Madam Nalini Letchumanon, Senior Manager of Promotion and Event Management at Tourism Pahang, Professor Darren Bagnall, Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Taylor's University, and Dr. Kandappan Balasubramaniam, Head of the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events at Taylor's University, alongside programme directors, lecturers, and students.
The ceremony brought together more than 240 attendees, including senior leadership from Taylor's University and Trinidad Hospitality, representatives from Tourism Pahang, faculty members, industry guests, and students. PATA MTSC's supporting committee contributed across several operational areas. Secretary Cassandra and Assistant Head of Recruitment Zaara served as masters of ceremonies, guiding the proceedings throughout the afternoon. President Iyaan and Head of Alumni Zoya handled IT support, taking charge of slides, video, and audio control. General member Lubna and Assistant Head of Activities Jason managed registration, while general member Idham served as the event photographer. Assistant Head of Marketing Malha served as the lead usher, with other PATA MTSC committee and general members providing additional support across the event.
By supporting a ceremony that brought together academia, industry, and government in the pursuit of sustainable tourism development, PATA MTSC reinforced its role as a bridge between tourism education at Taylor's University and the wider hospitality and tourism industry in Malaysia. The collaboration aligned with SDG 4 on Quality Education, SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. PATA MTSC thanks the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events, the Sustainable Tourism Impact Lab, Trinidad Hospitality Sdn Bhd, Tourism Pahang, and all members of the supporting committee for their contribution to a meaningful milestone for sustainable tourism in Malaysia.
