PATA Hybrid Seminar 2025
Bangkok, Thailand, 27 March 2025 – The PATA Hybrid Seminar 2025, hosted by the PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter, was successfully held on March 27, 2025, at Bangkok University, Thailand. Designed to bridge academic knowledge with real-world industry practices, the seminar focused on three forward-looking themes, innovation, sustainability, and borderless employment in the tourism and hospitality sectors. With over 100 participants joining both onsite and online, the seminar created a dynamic platform for students to gain direct exposure to global industry trends, engage in meaningful dialogue with professionals, and explore career development opportunities in an ever-evolving global tourism landscape.
The event’s success was made possible through the collaboration of several distinguished partners from both academia and industry. These included Cesar Ritz Colleges Switzerland, Marriott International Thailand, Marriott International Greater China, Swiss Education Group, PATA Headquarters, PATA Thailand Chapter, Divana Global Company Limited, Vpon Data Group, and Centara Hotels & Resorts. These organizations contributed expert speakers and panelists, while also offering students valuable networking opportunities and insights into global best practices. Their involvement brought credibility and depth to the seminar, reinforcing the importance of cross-sector collaboration in student development.
The seminar began with impactful presentations, starting with an opening presentation from Khun Ben Montgomery-Chairperson of PATA Thailand Chapter. Eunkyu Chuh (Nick) - Membership & Youth Programme Manager(PATA) introduced the PATA Youth Program, encouraging student engagement through leadership and global initiatives. Aung Zwe Wint (Benciel)-Assistant Advisor of PATA Thailand bangkok University Student Chapter then highlighted the achievements of the PATA-TH-BU Student Chapter, showcasing student-led projects and collaborations that bridge academia and industry. The first panel discussion, focused on innovation, technology, and sustainability in tourism, featured industry leaders such as Samson Chan-Director, Business and Partnership (Vpon Big Data Group), Apridee Herunramdej-Chief of Innovation-(Divana Global Company Limited),Ben Montgomery-Chairperson of PATA Thailand Chapter and Paul Pruangkarn-Director of Marketing and Communications(PATA). The panel explored how big data, artificial intelligence, and wellness-based sustainability models are transforming the travel and hospitality industries. Discussions touched on smart destinations, inclusive tourism, and the importance of public-private collaboration in driving climate action and economic recovery. A live Q&A session enabled students to directly engage with panelists, deepening their understanding of the intersection between innovation and sustainability.
The second panel turned the spotlight on borderless employment, preparing students for international careers in tourism and hospitality. Speakers included Kenneth Zhu-Senior Manager, College Relations Marriott International Greater China, Apridee Herunramdej-Chief of Innovation-(Divana Global Company Limited), Mr.Pacharathorn Niyomthiensin (Mikey)-Cluster Talent Acquisition Manager, Marriott International Thailand and Associate Professor Dr. Jorge Arnanz-Dean of César Ritz Colleges, Switzerland.They shared insights on global internship programs, cross-border education, and the skills required to succeed in international work environments. Emphasis was placed on adaptability, emotional intelligence, cultural understanding, and practical experience as key drivers of global employability. The discussion empowered students to think beyond borders and view their careers from an international perspective
Following the panel sessions, structured networking activities enabled students to connect one-on-one with speakers, faculty, and company representatives. Many students reported engaging conversations that may lead to internships or mentorships, underscoring the event’s value as a bridge to professional opportunities. Feedback collected after the event was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees appreciated the depth of insights from speakers, the opportunity to interact directly with industry professionals, and the hybrid model that broadened participation across geographic locations. Students found the seminar particularly relevant to understanding current industry trends in digital transformation and international mobility. Several participants have since initiated follow-ups with partner organizations, exploring internships and collaborations that reflect the seminar’s practical impact
The PATA Hybrid Seminar 2025 was more than just an academic event, it was a transformative experience.
