Bang Saen Beach Cleaning Initiative 2025
Bang Saen Beach, Chonburi Province, Thailand 30 March 2025 – The PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter organized its third beach cleaning initiative on March 30, 2025, at Bang Saen Beach, Chonburi Province, continuing its dedication to environmental protection and sustainable development. Building on the success of previous clean-up campaigns in Chonburi and Koh Samed, this initiative emphasized the importance of preserving coastal areas that are increasingly affected by tourism and pollution. The activity directly supported the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14: Life Below Water, which advocates for the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources. The objectives were to raise awareness about marine pollution and its effects, encourage responsible tourism behavior, and promote youth leadership in sustainability efforts.
In preparation for the event, student volunteers were equipped with cleaning tools and given safety instructions to ensure a safe and effective campaign. Environmental awareness messages were prepared in advance to engage both beachgoers and the local community, and efforts were made to encourage local participation and support.
The cleaning activity took place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, led by student volunteers from Bangkok University. The event attracted spontaneous participation from several beach visitors, and community members provided water and assistance to support the team. During the two-hour initiative, participants collected a total of 117 kilograms of waste, which included plastic pipes, rubber bands, food wrappers, and various other debris. The campaign underscored how focused, short-term efforts can yield measurable environmental benefits while fostering greater environmental consciousness among both participants and onlookers.
Following the activity, the visible reduction in beach litter significantly improved the coastal environment and enhanced public awareness of water pollution’s consequences. The unplanned involvement of beach visitors demonstrated a growing community interest in environmental sustainability. The initiative also served as a powerful educational experience for the student volunteers, who engaged directly with environmental challenges and led by example in community-based conservation efforts. By advocating for sustainable tourism practices and demonstrating youth-led leadership, the students became active contributors to broader sustainability goals. In conclusion, the Bang Saen Beach Cleaning Initiative 2025 was a successful and inspiring demonstration of environmental action. It showed that even modest initiatives, when driven by committed individuals and communities, can generate meaningful ecological and social outcomes. The PATA BU Student Chapter remains committed to fostering environmental awareness and empowering students to lead future sustainability efforts.
