PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter in Collaboration With ISR
Punjab, India, 1st April 2025 – PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter in collaboration with ISR to promote and actively participate in this initiative to provide health services in Barouli.
Introduction
The excursion to Barouli Village was organized to deliver essential health services, enhance health awareness, and conduct medical screenings for the local community. Barouli, a rural area with limited access to advanced healthcare facilities, was identified as a priority for outreach efforts. The activities focused on providing general health checkups across all age groups, offering diagnostic services for common ailments, administering immunizations, and delivering maternal and child health services. Additionally, the initiative aimed to promote awareness around hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention, identify cases requiring further treatment and referrals, and distribute basic medicines and hygiene kits to the villagers.
Health education sessions were conducted covering topics such as hand hygiene, sanitation, menstrual health, and nutrition, utilizing posters, leaflets, and interactive Q&A sessions. Approximately 40 villagers, primarily women and adolescents, actively participated in these sessions. Based on the outcomes, it is recommended to conduct quarterly follow-up camps in the village, collaborate with local schools to implement child health programs, and provide training for ASHA workers and local health volunteers.
Conclusion
The excursion to Barouli Village was a successful initiative in extending primary healthcare services to an underserved rural population. It fostered community trust and highlighted the importance of regular health interventions. Continued outreach and follow-up will be essential to sustain and improve the health outcomes of the village.
