Javier Ruescas

Javier Ruescas is a senior analyst at the Market Intelligence department of the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) where he conducts research, statistical analysis and forecasts for the World Tourism Barometer, the International Tourism Highlights and other reports. Mr. Ruescas is co-author of ASEAN Tourism Outlook (2025), Fifty Years of Tourism (2025), Tourism: a Driver for Shared Prosperity (2024), The Economic Contribution of Tourism (2021), and the seven editions of UNWTO/GTERC Asia Tourism Trends (2014 - 2020). He has been working for UN Tourism since 2012. Previously, he worked for ING Real Estate Investment Management and DTZ Property Advisors in Spain, doing economic, investment fund and property research.
