Vice Chairman, Global Tourism Economy Research Centre

Xu Jing is Vice Chairman of the Global Tourism Economy Research Centre (GTERC), a position he has held since 2021. He previously served as Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific at the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) from 2004 to 2020, and as Executive Secretary of the UNWTO General Assembly and Executive Council from 2014 to 2017. He also serves in advisory and expert roles with the International Mountain Tourism Alliance, the Mekong Tourism Advisory Group and FIBEGA. Earlier in his career, he worked with the former China National Tourism Administration and joined the World Tourism Organization in Madrid in 1992. His current research interests focus on the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in tourism, as well as tourism development and destination marketing policies in Asia.
