Entrepreneurship in Tourism
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India – 1 August, 2026: The PATA India Christ University Student Chapter, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism Management, successfully organized an insightful session on “Entrepreneurship in Tourism: Opportunities, Challenges and Success Stories.” Held at Room 402, Bannerghatta Road Campus, the event featured Yash Jain and Sachin Prabhakar Usapkar, Co-Founders of Part-Time Traveller, who shared their entrepreneurial journey and experiences within the tourism industry.
The session provided students with valuable insights into the evolving tourism and travel ecosystem, highlighting the diverse opportunities available for aspiring entrepreneurs. Drawing from their own experiences, the speakers discussed the process of building a travel-focused venture, identifying market gaps, understanding traveler behavior, and developing innovative tourism products that cater to changing consumer preferences.
The speakers also addressed key challenges faced by tourism entrepreneurs, including market competition, customer acquisition, destination marketing, digital presence, business sustainability, and adapting to rapidly changing travel trends. Through real-world examples and success stories from their entrepreneurial journey, participants gained a practical understanding of how passion for travel can be transformed into a successful business venture.
The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of the Department of Tourism Management. Participants engaged in discussions on startup culture, content creation in tourism, travel entrepreneurship, and the role of technology and digital platforms in shaping modern travel businesses. The speakers encouraged students to explore innovative ideas, embrace calculated risks, and continuously adapt to emerging trends within the tourism sector.
The event concluded with a question-and-answer session, where students sought guidance on career opportunities, startup development, networking, and building a personal brand within the tourism industry. The session served as an inspiring platform that connected academic learning with real-world entrepreneurial experiences, encouraging students to explore entrepreneurship as a viable and impactful career path within tourism.

Founded in 2020, PATA India CHRIST University Student Chapter is India’s first PATA Student Chapter. The organization is run by students of the tourism discipline of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) and serves a diverse community of undergraduate and postgraduate tourism students. Through industry interactions, workshops, guest lectures, and professional development initiatives, the Chapter aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice while fostering leadership, innovation, and sustainable tourism development.
