Inspiring Future Tourism Professionals Through World Tourism Day 2025 Celebration
Cavite, Philippines, October 6th 2025 — In celebration of World Tourism Day 2025, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) – LPU Cavite Student Chapter successfully organized an educational forum at the Audio-Visual Theater (AVT) of Lyceum of the Philippines University–Cavite, bringing together aspiring tourism professionals for an engaging and insightful learning experience centered on sustainable tourism.
The celebration served as a platform to strengthen students’ understanding of the vital role tourism plays in economic development, environmental conservation, and cultural preservation. Through meaningful discussions and industry engagement, the event encouraged participants to recognize their responsibility in shaping a tourism industry that is inclusive, resilient, and environmentally sustainable.
Promoting Sustainable Tourism Through Education
The program gathered 120 Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTTM) students from Sections 101, 103, 106, and 108, demonstrating the student chapter’s commitment to fostering active participation in activities that promote professional development and responsible tourism practices.
The highlight of the event was the keynote presentation delivered by Mr. Nick Chun, who shared valuable insights drawn from his professional experience in the tourism industry. His discussion emphasized the importance of balancing tourism growth with environmental protection, community empowerment, and ethical business practices.
Students were introduced to current trends and challenges in the tourism sector, including the growing demand for sustainable travel experiences, the importance of preserving natural and cultural heritage, and the role of future tourism professionals in promoting responsible destination management. The session also encouraged participants to think critically about how their future careers can contribute to creating positive social, environmental, and economic impacts.
Supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
The celebration reinforced the organization’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by highlighting the connection between tourism and sustainable development.
The discussions aligned with:
SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, by emphasizing tourism’s contribution to employment generation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive economic development;
