PATA Hong Kong SHTM Student Chapter: The 75th Annual Summit of PATA – Navigating Towards a Resilient Future

Pohang & Gyeongju, Korea (ROK), 11th May 2026 - The PATA Hong Kong SHTM Student Chapter participated in the 75th Annual Summit of PATA, themed Navigating Towards a Resilient Future. Throughout the conference, we attended a series of key sessions and student chapter activities, achieving meaningful progress in networking, reporting, and external engagement. We were present throughout the conference from the opening ceremony to the closing session; the following highlights summarize several of the most important meetings and activities.

Highlights of the Conference:

1. PATA Education Round Table:

At the PATA Education Round Table, our members engaged in discussions with student chapter leaders and representatives from different regions. The session was structured around two roles: (1) multiple chapter leaders who facilitated and guided the discussion, and (2) student participants who shared reflections and ideas. Our student discussion focused on two planned topics: what challenges the industry is currently facing, and what competencies we need to cultivate to succeed in our future careers. This round table allowed us to learn from experienced industry pioneers and clarify our own career thinking.

2. PATA Annual General Meeting (AGM):

We then attended the PATA Annual General Meeting (AGM). During the AGM, we were appointed as the PATA Student Chapter Board Representative 2026 and will contribute to relevant discussions and follow-up work from a student chapter perspective.

3. Youth Meeting

At the Annual Student Youth Meeting, we exchanged ideas with student and youth delegates from five regions on youth development, cross-regional collaboration, and future initiatives. In addition, we presented our yearly report and connected with five other student chapters to establish relationships and communication channels. This session enabled us to connect with the broader youth network and clarify potential areas for follow-up cooperation and engagement.

4. Salon Session

In addition to the key sessions highlighted above, several other meetings were attended by our School’s Associate Dean on behalf of PolyU, demonstrating strong institutional support for our participation and external engagement. In particular, the Associate Dean joined an academic discussion session as moderator, noted as: AI and the Future of Tourism: From Insight to Impact.”

Overall, we participated throughout the 75th PATA Annual Conference and engaged in multi-dimensional exchanges on student and youth-related topics, further strengthening cross-regional connections and collaboration potential. Moving forward, we will build on the outcomes of the conference to advance recruitment and follow-up collaborations.
