EcoEcho: Voice of Trees

Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, June 22, 2025 - The serene Eagle’s Nest Lake within the 515 Army Base Workshop turned into a dynamic ground for environmental action as over 60 volunteers gathered for EcoEcho: Voice of Trees. Spearheaded by the PATA India Christ University Student Chapter, Christites for Climate Action (CCA), and the SDG Cell, in collaboration with HandsOnCSR, the event marked the launch of a youth-driven plantation drive under the Hands-On Volunteering initiative. Designed to engage communities in climate action and boost Bengaluru’s urban green cover, the event inspired participants to contribute not just with effort but also with purpose. Native saplings were planted, soil was nurtured, and sustainable practices were discussed with enthusiasm. The motto “Each One, Get One” encouraged participants to bring a friend, building a ripple effect of engagement and environmental stewardship.

The plantation drive was not just about planting trees—it became a powerful example of youth mobilization and hands-on climate leadership. Students and volunteers collectively demonstrated how local action can support global goals like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). The organizers ensured long-term impact by tagging each sapling for maintenance and partnering with the army base staff for follow-ups. The peaceful backdrop of Eagle’s Nest Lake became symbolic of restoration and action, as volunteers voiced a unified message: sustainability begins with us. This successful drive has sparked momentum for future initiatives across campuses and cities, proving that when empowered, young people can be catalysts for meaningful environmental change. EcoEcho: Voice of Trees has planted the roots of a growing green movement—one sapling, one student, and one step at a time.
