Icebreaker Event With New Members

Subang Jaya, Malaysia, 19th June 2025 – PATA Malaysia Taylor's Student Chapter (PATA MTSC) welcomed its newest batch of members with a dedicated icebreaker event on 19th June 2025 at Taylor's University. Thirty seven students gathered for an afternoon of introductions, games, and networking to begin their journey with the chapter.

Welcome to PATA MTSC! was organised to introduce new members to the chapter, its committee, and its role within the tourism industry. The event was held at Tarragon Restaurant DG.01, Taylor's University, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and was emceed by President Abdulla Iyaan Ahmed and Vice President Aayush Bashyal. The session opened with a presentation covering the history and mission of PATA, the vision and missions of PATA MTSC, and an introduction to each committee member and their responsibilities.

Members then took part in the Passport to PATA MTSC icebreaker, where each participant received a passport sheet containing 25 prompts and was tasked with finding fellow members who matched each one. The activity encouraged participants to move around the room, have genuine conversations, and connect with as many members as possible. This was followed by a Kahoot quiz on general tourism knowledge, where participants were paired with someone from a different intake and nationality. Prizes were awarded to the top scorers, adding a fun and competitive element to the afternoon while building awareness of the tourism industry.

The session also featured a preview of the chapter's upcoming events for 2025 and 2026, as well as the announcement of two open competitions: the Pangkor Trip Video Competition and the Polo Shirt Design Competition. The afternoon concluded with refreshments and open networking time, giving members the chance to continue conversations with the committee and with each other. The event brought together 37 PATA MTSC members and gave new members a clear picture of the chapter's direction and the opportunities available to them, in line with SDG 4 on Quality Education.

PATA MTSC looks forward to seeing its newest members take an active role in the chapter's activities throughout the term and welcomes all members to contribute their ideas and energy to the chapter community.
