Social Mixer for New Members
Subang Jaya, Malaysia, 4th December 2025 – PATA Malaysia Taylor's Student Chapter (PATA MTSC) hosted its Social Mixer on 4th December 2025 at Taylor's University. The event welcomed new members joining the chapter for the new semester through an evening of introductions, team games, and a movie screening.
The PATA MTSC Social Mixer was organised to introduce new members to the chapter, its committee, and the wider work of PATA, while giving members a relaxed setting to get to know one another. The event was held at Lecture Theatre 24, Taylor's University, from 5:00 p.m. onwards. The session opened with a presentation covering the history and mission of PATA, the vision and missions of PATA MTSC, and an introduction to each committee member and their responsibilities, alongside a preview of upcoming chapter activities.
Members were then divided into six teams through a Find Your Team icebreaker, in which participants located their teammates using only animal sounds drawn from cards distributed at registration. The teams took part in a series of engagement games including Predict and List, a team handshake challenge, a spin challenge, a quick text relay, and a draw the monster activity. Each game ended with a clue reveal, and the clues gathered across the evening combined to spell out the title of the night's movie screening, Us (2019), which closed the event.
The Social Mixer gave new members a clear picture of the chapter's structure, its upcoming events, and the opportunities available to them. By pairing new members with returning members across the team activities, the event encouraged cross batch and cross nationality interaction and built a sense of community within the chapter ahead of the new semester. The session reflects the chapter's commitment to SDG 4 on Quality Education through informal peer learning and community building.
