TDM Global Summit Bangkok 2026

Bangkok, Thailand, 29th April 2026 – Members of the PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter participated in the TDM Global Summit Bangkok 2026, held at Watergate Ballroom 1 & 2, 6th Floor, Amari Bangkok from 08:30 to 18:00. The summit was organized by Travel Daily Media and brought together tourism and hospitality professionals, executives, educators, students, and industry experts to discuss future tourism trends, innovation, sustainability, and technology in the global travel industry.

Event Description

Students attended keynote speeches, panel discussions, and industry presentations covering important topics in tourism and hospitality. The sessions focused on sustainability in MICE tourism, artificial intelligence (AI), hospitality technology, destination development, Gen Z travel behavior, human capital, and food and beverage trends.

One of the major panel discussions, “The Future of MICE and Sustainable Connectivity,” featured speakers including Sumate Sudasna, Michael Marshall, Marisa Sukosol Nunbhakdi, and Craig Bond. The discussion focused on sustainability practices within hotels, conference venues, and MICE operations. Speakers explained how hotels are implementing recycling programmes, reducing waste, sourcing local ingredients, and collaborating with local communities and schools to support sustainable tourism development.

The panel also highlighted the increasing importance of sustainability certifications and environmentally responsible operations, especially for international clients and event organizers. Thailand’s strong sustainability potential was discussed through the country’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy introduced by Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Another session introduced the Inspiring Women in Travel Asia (IWTA) Programme and Awards by Jasmine Marshall. The programme aims to recognize and support women in tourism and hospitality through awards, certificates, and leadership opportunities.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) was one of the main themes throughout the summit. Speakers explained how AI agents are transforming tourism and hospitality operations by improving customer experiences, automating repetitive tasks, and personalizing services. AI systems can now analyze customer preferences, provide travel recommendations, assist hotel operations, and communicate naturally with guests through voice and chat interactions.

Examples were shared showing how AI can help hotels solve operational problems automatically, such as arranging room upgrades or compensating guests during service disruptions. The sessions also emphasized the importance of accurate data and human interaction when implementing AI technologies in hospitality.

The session “From Hidden Gems to Global Demand” discussed how tourism businesses can help develop lesser-known destinations into successful tourism attractions while supporting local communities. Examples from China showed how authentic cultural experiences and cooperation with local communities helped destinations grow internationally.

Technology and hospitality innovation were further explored in “The Tech Revolution: Battle of the Titans,” which featured executives from Agoda, AirAsia MOVE, Trip.com Group, Booking.com, and Zuzu Hospitality. The discussion focused on AI, FinTech, digital payments, loyalty programmes, and travel demand trends in 2026.

Students also attended sessions discussing Gen Z travel behavior, where Jasmine Marshall explained that younger travelers value authentic experiences, storytelling, and meaningful travel experiences over traditional tourism products.

Another panel, “Leadership and Human Capital: The Retention Revolution,” focused on workforce challenges in hospitality after COVID-19. Industry leaders discussed labor shortages, leadership development, flexible working environments, and the importance of attracting younger talent into hospitality careers.

The summit also featured discussions about food and beverage trends, including the growing popularity of local spirits, experience-focused dining, and social media marketing within hospitality businesses.
