Rainforest Youth Summit 2026
Kuching, Malaysia, 26th June 2026 - The PATA Bangkok University Student Chapter participated in the Rainforest Youth Summit (RAYS) 2026, held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, under the theme "Youth: Many Ways, One Planet." The summit brought together more than 700 participants from across ASEAN and beyond to exchange ideas and collaborate on solutions for a more sustainable future.
Throughout the summit, participants attended plenary sessions and interactive workshops exploring biodiversity conservation, Indigenous knowledge, sustainable development, climate action, and community engagement. These discussions highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage while addressing contemporary environmental challenges and encouraged participants to consider diverse perspectives in developing sustainable solutions.
A key component of the summit was the Planet Futures Forum (PFF), where participants worked collaboratively in thematic groups to develop practical solutions addressing environmental and social challenges. The proposals were presented on the final day, with delegates voting on the recommendations that would contribute to the summit's collective outcomes.
Beyond the learning sessions, the summit provided valuable opportunities to connect with fellow PATA Student Chapters and youth delegates from across the region, fostering meaningful exchanges of ideas and experiences. As part of the summit experience, participants also had the opportunity to attend the Rainforest World Music Festival at the Sarawak Cultural Village, where participants experienced Sarawak's rich cultural heritage through traditional architecture, cultural performances, and international music. Representing PATA Bangkok University Student Chapter at RAYS 2026 strengthened the Student Chapter's commitment to responsible tourism, sustainability, and regional collaboration while reinforcing the value of youth engagement in shaping a more sustainable future.
